Integrate aims to provide Veterinary Surgeons with unsurpassed continuing professional development (CPD) courses in Veterinary Herbal Medicine. We offer courses that facilitate the integration of herbal medicine into animal healthcare and veterinary practice, and provide the basic knowledge and skills for professionals to practice herbal medicine on animals safely and effectively. We envisage an integrated animal healthcare system, where the most appropriate treatment options are selected from a wide spectrum of modalities, and Veterinary Surgeons collaborate for the benefit of the animal patient. We believe that the future of veterinary medicine will bring a unification of the many seemingly different schools of healing. This process of integration in medicine runs parallel to the process of integration of the healthcare providers themselves. As healthcare professionals deepen their own understanding of the nature of health and healing, they are able to support their clients and patients to new levels of health and well-being. Venue: HORSEHAY FARM, Oxfordshire Horsehay Farm is the setting for all of Integrate's courses, and provides an ideal combination of resources for an exceptional learning/teaching experience. Set in the heart of England, in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, Horsehay Farm has great conservation value as it supports a variety of habitats characteristic of the Cotswold Natural Area. The farm has an abundance of flora, fauna, streams, ponds, hedgerows, woodlands and large unspoilt meadows within its 50 acres of land. The farm's resident domestic and companion animals include horses, goats, sheep, dogs, cats and an assortment of exotic animals including parrots and tortoises. Wildlife includes monkjack deer, badgers, foxes, rare butterflies, an abundance of insects and various pond life such as ducks, frogs, newts and fish. Bat boxes, bird and owl boxes have been placed at various points around the farm to encourage their breeding. Teachers:
Peter Conway Dip.Phyt. MNIMH MCPP DTM Cert.Ed. Peter is a practising medical herbalist, teacher and author. He came to study herbal medicine following a growing interest in green issues and alternative health approaches. He graduated from the 4 year full-time course in herbal medicine at the College of Phytotherapy in England in 1995 and has been in practice ever since. He practises at the WellSpring Clinic in Tunbridge Wells. In addition to seeing patients Peter is involved in several other areas of herbal activity including education and professional regulation. Peter views herbal medicine as both an ancient art and a modern science. His work is founded on understanding herbal medicine by integrating the perspectives of rational evidence based medicine, traditional herbal writings and the knowledge gained from clinical experience. He passionately believes that herbal medicine should and will emerge as an important strand of mainstream medicine during the 21st century. Ray O'Mahony MVB MRCVS MAVH Ray qualified as a veterinary surgeon from UCD in 1996. He runs his own equine practice in the southwest of Ireland, which also offers a companion animal herbal medicine referral service. Passionate about herbal medicine Ray attended the very first introductory module held here at Integrate. Approaching herbs from a scientific western perspective he has seemlessly integrated this ancient art into conventional practice. Ray is particularly interested in chronic inflammatory disorders and in maintaining health with herbs. He believes an in-depth understanding of both the herbs and the disease processes involved are crucial to successful phytotherapy.
