Membership of GEOTA

GEOTA acts as the Governing body and ensures that the members are offered a high standard of education in the safe use of Essential Oil Therapy for Animals and Animal Aromatics.

More specifically, the aims of GEOTA are as follows:

  • To elevate and maintain high standards of Essential Oil Therapy for Animals.
  • To record any suspected adverse reactions to the use of Essential Oils on animals.
  • To establish and maintain professional and ethical standards of practice.
  • To improve public awareness regarding the benefits of Essential Oil Therapy for Animals.
  • To provide education and continuing new developments on Essential Oil Therapy for Animals to our members.
  • To enhance the quality and credibility of this field of complementary therapy.
  • To continue to research Essential Oils, olfactory science and related areas of concern.
  • To maintain a directory of practitioners around the world.
  • To maintain a directory of recognised schools and courses.

MEMBERSHIP

There are five types of membership available:

Full Member - £40 per annum

Available only to those who have completed the Diploma course in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals or equivalent recognised courses (please send copies of certificates) and are working with clients. You will have access to the Members Only area on this website and we will post regular online topical news. You will need to complete 12 hours CPD per year to retain your Full Member status and you will be placed on our register and website for future referrals in your area. It is possible to submit articles to count towards your CPD which we are happy to post onto the Members Only are on this website. You will be able to enter into discussions in the Members forum when this is set up. At the present time it is not possible to issue a practitioner certificate due to the current legislation, but we are confident that in the near future the law will change allowing full members to work alongside veterinary surgeons.

Associate Member - £24 per annum

Available to those who have completed the Diploma course, who are fully qualified but are not intending to work with clients and would just like to work with their own animals. You will have access to the Members Only area on this website and we will post regular online topical news. You are not required to complete any CPD within this type of membership. You will be able to enter into discussions in the Members forum when this is set up.

Student Member - £12 per annum

Available to those who are currently completing the Diploma course or for those who have completed the Diploma course but have not yet completed their case studies. You will have access to the Members Only area on this website and we will post regular online topical news. You are not required to complete any CPD with this type of membership. You will be able to enter into discussions in the Members forum when this is set up.

Friend Member - £12 per annum

Available to those who would like access to the Members Only area on this website where we will post regular online topical news. You will be able to enter into discussions in the Members forum when this is set up.

Overseas Friend Membership - Request fee structure for your country

Available to those who live outside the UK and would like access to the Members Only area on this website where we will post regular online topical news. You will be able to enter into discussions in the Members forum when this is set up. Please contact the office for the overseas fee structure.
